Sports Outlook 2018-2019

Football 

Burke football has already started the season off with a win against Lincoln Southeast. The number one ranked team has high hopes for the season as they work to get to state. The bulldogs next game is Friday Sept. 14 at Norhtwest against North at 7:00 pm. 

 

Softball 

Although the softball team started off with a loss at the beginning against Millard South, they have come back with five wins on their record including two wins against Millard North and a win against the #5 ranked Bellevue West. “The season is going really good so far. I’m excited that we just beat Bell West and Millard North. That brought our record to 5-5″, said sophomore Paige Davison. The team’s next game is Friday September 14 against Papio South at 12:45 pm. 

 

Cross Country 

 The cross country team feels that they are having a great season because of all the great leadership and support that has risen this season. “We have some really good freshmen and some good seniors that are taking charge and stepping up to make the team great. We’re all supportive of each other,” senior Maddie Hutch said. The teams next meet is the Norfolk Invite tomorrow at 4:00 pm for both boys and girls. 

 

 

Girls Golf  

 Although the golf team had doubts at the beginning of the season because their limited players, they have been surprised by the strength they have shown. “Everyone has shown their strengths and has come together to become a strong team,” said senior Kealey Conrad. The girls’ next invite is Sept. 17 at the Bellevue West Invite. 

 

 

Boys Tennis  

 The boy’s tennis season is in full swing and they believe that, with every match, they improve. “Season is going good. We are all improving as a team and getting better, and hopefully, we can finish the season strong,” said senior Jack Nelson. The boys’ next match is Tuesday, Sept. 17 at the Papio Invite. 

 

Volleyball 

 The volleyball girls believe they have been working hard this season and have many upcoming matches this season. Some of their next opponents include Benson, an Invitational at Papillion La Vista, and an away game at Bellevue West. Their match against Benson will be Tuesday, Sept. 18 at Burke at 7:30 pm.
