Recognized as a hard-working student and dedicated to helping the girl’s volleyball team, junior Mitchell Meeske is seen as a persevering kind student here at Burke. “He’s a very kind person, always says please and thank you and is very polite.” Science teacher Mrs. Logeman says.
“I’m glad that my actions are being seen by others, and I can actually make a difference in this school.”
“Mitch is a great student in my class, he raises his hand, he asks questions, answers questions, if he’s absent he always makes sure to catch up on things. He’s a very kind person.” Mrs. Logeman says. Here at Burke, Mitchell is the manager of the girls volleyball team, is a varsity track member, and is apart of the DECA team. “He’s super involved in volleyball here, and he really enjoys talking about that, and I know he’s dedicated to that for sure.” Mrs. Logeman says. His biggest passions are volleyball, spending time with friends and family, along with reaching people for Christ is especially important to him as well. “Mitch is such a hard worker and always has some sort of activities going on, he’s really involved in the Burke community and is super social. He is just so nice and is such a fun spirit to be around.” Emily Douglas said.
Mitchell believes it’s crucial to raise awareness for sports here at Burke, particularly men’s volleyball. “The more I can put myself out there, the more they can be heard if they feel the same way.” With there not being many male volleyball players here at Burke, Meeske feels it’s important people know about boys volleyball. “Whenever I talked to him he always seemed really compassionate, very motivated and driven.” Jasmine Allen said.
Before coming to Burke, Mitchell has lived in the suburbs here in Omaha and mostly stayed in OPS schools before coming to Burke High School. “Nothing crazy or special happened, I just kind of got here.” Meeske says.
When asked about some of his goals for the future, Mitchell said after he graduates high school he wants to go to college to hopefully study sports medicine and to become a high school sports coach.
