Enter the Body is the fall play that Burke Theater Department will be putting on October 29th, November 1stand 2nd. This play is about some of Shakespeare’s characters coming together into one story.
The main four characters are Juliet (from Romeo and Juliet) played by Audie Scanlan (10th), Ophelia (Hamlet), played by Lily Morris (10th), Cordelia (King Lear), played by Mae Gleason (10th), and Lavinia from Titus Andronicus, played by Sophia Alday (10th).
The interesting thing about this casting is that sophomores play all the leads! For a sophomore to have a lead in the fall show and have it be their first lead is a big thing.
“I am really excited for my role in the fall play! I have never had a kind of big role in a show before. I’m really excited to play Juliet, I think she has a cool fire to her. I’m excited to fight for my own story! Another thing I am excited about is tech week! Not for the hours, but just because I love seeing my friends all the time and I can’t wait to just hang out with them,” Audie said.
The excitement with these four girls is very apparent. They are all close friends and excited to lead this show together.
“I am very excited for my role, but I’m most excited about opening night and the traditions that come with it!” Sophia commented.
Theater is not all about stressing to memorize lines and wondering where your prop went. There are some traditions within the theater department that keep the excitement up for the actors and crew to get through the shows.
Hope you are as excited as I am to see the fall play! Be on the lookout for the Winter One Act details and a special play directed by Thespian Board’s president elect, Cecelia “CeCe” Hultman!
