Burke High School recently had its stadium renovated.
There were multiple students selected for their ribbon cutting ceremony including the drum major, Valerie King. The Burke band had an entire performance dedicated to this new stadium. The stadium took a long time and effort to complete.
Featured in the performance was a march from the circle drive all the way to the stadium, the band and guard performing ‘My House by Flo Rida,’ ‘Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond, and the school’s fight song.
“I think it is important for the band, especially those who had to experience using the baseball for the whole last half of the season. It’s also important to the band as Burke hosts OMI, which is our own competition! So, I do think it’s important even to us. I think the whole stadium dedication ceremony as a whole was underwhelming. I thought a lot more was going to be done for both the band side and the presentation. But it was ok, Thought more would’ve happened though. We honestly didn’t learn any new choreo. We didn’t have enough time to teach stuff, so we just simplified something we already knew,” Jonae Davis (12) said.
This was not just another performance for the Burke Band. Their advisor, Kyle Brubaker went through a lot of stress attempting to get these students ready for the reopening of Burke stadium. The band of Burke High has lots of students who put a massive amount of time and energy into performances. If you happen to be intrigued about what the band has been working on, consider going to see their show, “Somewhere.”
