The Bulldogs left no doubt Thursday night, dominating from the first snap to the final whistle in a 37-0 homecoming win over the Bryan Bears.
Burke set the tone early in the first quarter when junior Jasiah Summerfield scored the opening touchdown. From that moment on, the Bulldogs never looked back.
The second quarter was the turning point. Burke piled on three touchdowns and a field goal to stretch the lead to 25-0 at halftime. The momentum carried into the locker room and only grew stronger in the second half.
Burke’s defense stood tall the rest of the way, shutting out the Bears completely. The Bulldogs added two more touchdowns after the break to seal the 37-0 win, improving their record to 2-2.
Several players had standout performances. Summerfield, Carnell Dangerfield (senior), Leyton Bush (senior), and Ryan Rummel (senior) all earned player-of-the-game honors. Sophomore Joshua Hummel also shined, scoring two touchdowns and totaling 12 points.
The fans matched the team’s energy all night. The Dawg Pound—dressed head to toe in black and gold—erupted after every big play. The cheerleaders and band fueled the spirit, keeping the energy alive from kickoff to the final whistle. Families, alumni, and students made the stands feel like a celebration of community.
Halftime only added to the excitement with the homecoming court ceremony. Seniors Alejandra Wells and Brayden Pickett were crowned queen and king of 2025, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.
For Burke, this win meant more than just a number in the standings. Two years ago, the Bulldogs fell short on homecoming night. Thursday’s victory not only erased that memory but also reminded everyone what Burke football—and school pride—is all about.
As the Bulldogs walked off the field, the scoreboard showed a 37-0 shutout, but the night represented more than football. It was a celebration of tradition, spirit, and a community that always shows up for Burke.
