Lighthouse Bar & Grill has become a go-to for locals looking for a relaxing atmosphere, solid food, and an amazing outside environment with excellent service. Tucked into a retail strip near 132nd and Center, it offers a laid-back, neighborhood feel rather than a flashy big-city restaurant. What it may lack in the location and design of the building, it makes up for inside.
As I approached Lighthouse in the evening, the neon light from the beer signs welcomed me in. The building is a little bland with an average-looking entrance and simple interior. It is not themed like a lighthouse but has a welcoming feel to it. You can tell it is a place where the community gathers: a mix of families, couples and regulars stopping in after errands or work for food or drinks.
Walking inside, I was pleased to find a relaxing environment, neutral tones, soft lighting. The name is a little confusing because I don’t see a lighthouse or ocean theme. The layout of tables and booths was comfortable and simple. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the service was great, the food was quick, fresh and delicious.
I started with Lighthouse’s massive onion rings, they were flaky, greasy, and definitely the best I have ever had. Perfectly pairing with the Lighthouse’s homemade ranch. I would have to rate the onion rings a 10/10, everyone should try them.
For the main meal I got a Texas burger and the first thing I noticed was how massive they were. The burger smelled amazing. It had jalapeños and BBQ sauce paired with soft bread. The patty was a greasy tasty bar burger with fresh vegetables. The burger was delicious. I never would’ve thought BBQ sauce would be good on a burger, it was great, one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time.
Service at this location was one of its best qualities. My server greeted me with kindness, took the time to explain menu specials and refilled my drink before the glass was empty. I never felt rushed; check-ins were timed perfectly. Throughout my time there, I noticed a few tiny details that elevate the experience. The restrooms were spotless, the table settings were neat, and the lighting was warm but not dim. Families chatted and groups of friends laughed quietly near the bar. The background music was relaxing. Overall, a great experience.
