Burke Orchestra has just held their first concert of the year. The Chamber and String Orchestra each played with a phenomenal set list. The Chamber Orchestra had a piece that included a flutist playing along.
“It’s a very bittersweet moment; I’m going to miss everyone. I’m happy that I’ve got here and that I stuck with it all these years. I think I played to the best of my ability and the vibes were good. The acoustics were great; the audience was amazing and very attentive,” Paloma Gibson said.

This experience was also special for Deedee De La Cruz, who is a senior trying out the school’s orchestra program for the first time. Although it was their first concert, they definitely felt comfortable with the experience.
“This was actually my first orchestra concert. So, I definitely didn’t have the emotional attachment that most seniors would have. It was a really cool environment. I’m disappointed I haven’t gotten to play more throughout high school, but I am glad to have been a part of this. This was my first time coming back to a school orchestra, the last time I was in one was sixth or seventh grade,” DeeDee De La Cruz said.

The vibes were great, and it was clear the orchestra felt it. Especially Teacher Cam, who felt grateful towards Mrs. Mokrycki for allowing the chamber and string orchestra to perform during this busy theater season.
“I feel like it was pretty good overall for us. Us having our concert first concert in October, I think it was really successful, and I think everyone enjoyed the experience because compared to previous years, it’s usually been in November, and I always felt like that was too late. So, I’m happy that Mrs. Mokrycki was able to let us use the stage and let us have our concert earlier,” Teacher Cam said.
