As spring break approaches, students are preparing for a week that looks different for everyone. Some are planning to relax, others are staying busy with work or sports, but all are looking forward to a break from their regular routines.
Adam Shepard said he plans to spend his week at home working on a backyard project.
“My plans for spring break are to get this pool built in my backyard. I’ve been wanting to finish it for a while, so I’m going to spend a lot of time working on it. Once it’s done, I’m planning on swimming and just relaxing back there. I also want to have some barbecues in my backyard and just enjoy the time off with family and friends.” Adam Shepard said.
Adams’ spring break is about staying close to home while still making the most of the warmer weather.
But for other people like Enrique Diego Cano explained that his break will be centered around his job.
“I work. I got a job, so I’m probably just going to be picking up more hours during spring break Since we don’t have school, it’s a good chance for me to make some extra money. I’ll mostly just be focused on working and staying busy.” said Enrique Diego Cano.
While some students see spring break as a vacation, Cano views it as an opportunity to be productive and responsible.
Cole Hanson said his schedule will still revolve around track and field.
“My plans for spring break are mostly track practices. We’ve got practices during the week, and there’s probably going to be a track meet that Friday. I throw shot put and discus, so I’ll be working on that and trying to improve my technique. After practices and the meet, I’ll probably just hang out with my friends and relax.” said Cole Hanson.
Even during time off from school, Hanson remains committed to his sport and continuing to improve.
Jesse Reese said boxing will take up most of his week. “I’m just going to keep boxing. I’ll be training, sparring, and working on getting better. It’s not just fighting, I also do conditioning like ab workouts and other exercises to stay in shape. I’m really trying to focus on improving and continuing with boxing.” said Jesse Reese.
His week off is another opportunity to stay dedicated to his goals.
From building pools and hosting barbecues to working extra shifts and training for competition, students’ spring break plans vary widely. Whether relaxing or staying active, each student is using the week in their own way before returning to school refreshed and ready for the final stretch of the year.
“I just wanna go out and have some fun this spring break” said Sophie Rosales.
