Burke’s newest author ready for next adventure

Children’s writer Benjamin Ingram is already working on a new book.

Oh, did we mention he’s still in high school?

The senior already has a book on Amazon titled: “Quentin and the New Friend.” Ingram is also working on a new book, which has something to do with music, kind of like an ode to himself. Going back to the first book, he plans on possibly turning it into a series.

Ingram has accomplished something big for a senior; he’s getting the recognition he deserves, what his book deserves. He’s a kind and a bit more laid back, but he has big ideas when it comes to writing and giving the love a good book gets will be further down the road. Not only does he have big dreams for writing, but he also has big dreams for other things that he wants to pursue at Creighton University.

Having people know that he has a book out and more coming can lead to something big for him.

What Ingram would be doing at Creighton is majoring in biology on a pre-dentistry track, after that he plans on doing his undergrad and then going on to dental school for his graduate years. After high school, he plans on doing both writing books and the stuff at Creighton. A lot of work, but he is very determined to pursue both of those things.

Being at Burke for him has been good; he’s learned a lot about himself in these past four years, so it’s been nice.

“Expect to be seeing me out here,” Ingram said. “I like to put my heart into something when I do something.”

He’s very passionate when it comes to the topic of his first book. Ingram said that it’s based on a true story about fragile awareness syndrome and accepting people. It all started in Ingram’s sophomore English class, where they had an assignment to write a children’s book. He didn’t want to make up anything, and he wanted to put his heart into it. He wanted to write something he was passionate about, something educational and effective to the community.

At first, Ingram was using stock images, but he wanted to take it the long way.

“I feel like I can really make a difference putting this out,” Ingram said.

Since his book got top twenty. Ingram said it feels great, feels like hard work paid off. It definitely did; he feels very blessed that it happened.

“God is good. I’ve been praying about this book being successful. So, all my dreams are coming into fruition,” Ingram said.
