NSAA State Track Championships take place at Burke Stadium

The annual NSAA state track championships took place at our very own Burke stadium from May 17-20. Preparation for this event was extensive, with portable teachers being moved inside and the west parking lot being completely closed to students. Although a lot of work, the event is a big contributor to the school’s community, bringing in over 40,000 people to Burke stadium throughout the four days. The meet concluded with Class C and D on Sat.

Day one of the competition consisted of Class A and B schools. Several students from Burke competed in a multitude of events. Here are the results:

Class A Boys:

3,200 relay: Reed Emsick, Thomas Vaquez, Kirk Pulliam and Dillon Burge take the state title.

Preliminary 200 meter: Marquise McIntyre-Dailey takes 5th place with a time of 22.36.

Class A Girls:

Long jump: Aaliyah Franklin takes home 6th place at 17-4.
