Since the first month of school, both orchestras have been practicing their sets of music to be able to perform at the fall concert. Using class time for full ensemble, sectional time to work as smaller sections, and individual practice time to improve themselves!
The first concert of the years is always a bit nerve racking but getting to show off the hard works makes it worth it.
“The first concert felt sorta special because of the gift bags we all received, and all freshmen had a little gateway to their first concert. I really enjoyed it.” Zionah Grandy said.
Making the first concert memorable is important to everyone and one step of making good memories is being prepared for what’s ahead.
“I felt very prepared for the concert. I took time during school and class to really harp on my areas I struggled with while I was in Clue and when I had free time, I completed my part checks.” Ada Lewis said.
Prepping for a concert takes lots of outside time but even for the hardest pieces, it helps bring the hype.
“My favorite piece was Ironwork! It was a challenging piece but once I got used to ironwork it was fun to play, it was one of the pieces that brough a lot of energy” Ziannah Grandy said.
Along with fun pieces, Chamber got the chance to play as an accompanist alongside our new choir teacher, Ms. Catton!
“Se Tu M’ami would be my second favorite piece we played. The singer was amazing and even though we were just background noise, it was still hype.” Sam Ouren Said.
With the enjoyment songs from most, the concert was able to succeed in being memorable.
“The concert went really well! A lot of people were happy and excited for the concert and less nervous than how it was at my first concert.” Grandy said.
With the first concert over, and most being able to have a positive view on the first concert of the year, the quick turn around for the winter concert keeps students on their toes.
“I’m looking forward to the collaboration with Millard North. Its nice to be able to collaborate with schools outside of our district and feel even more connected with other schools in the Omaha area!” Lewis Said
