Lily Reid, a senior at Burke High School, is looked upon as a young, kind, and high charactered woman by her peers. She is somebody with an abundance of friends and many admirers.
With plans to go to UNO and become a high school history teacher, Lily Reid believes that her friends and family have helped her the most in achieving her goals, especially her siblings.
“The happiest moment I’ve had ever in life is always when I’m around my siblings. My siblings mean the world to me,” says Reid.
Academically, Lily Reid also participates in many extracurriculars that have benefited her years at Burke.
“Theatre and show choir are the main two. I partake in them because they make school fun for me! Show choir is especially fun because it’s a class/activity all of my friends are in.”
With a busy life, Reid has managed to skillfully balance any challenges thrown at her.
“The most difficult challenge i’ve had to overcome academically would be when I took my first AP class my sophomore year.
That was the first time I challenged myself academically and took a leap of faith when it came to school. It was AP Human Geography, and the work load and dedication that had to be put into that class made it extremely challenging! Most difficult challenge in life would have to be during COVID. Covid was challenging for me because it forced me to shut down and shut off some of my outgoing personality traits.”
As an aspiring history teacher, it’s also her favorite subject. With her plan to venture to college soon, she shares advice she’d give to her freshman self.
“Advice I would give to my freshman self would be to venture out into more activities, things other than theatre! I regret not doing tennis my freshman year, or any other sport.”
Many others also hold an admiration for Reid and her successes, her final year at burke high won’t be unrecognized.
“Lily is such a positive soul who never fails to make me laugh. She is such a positive role model and a great example of what a truly kind person is, she puts her 110% into everything she does and i have such an amazing time being able to know her, she really is the best and one of my favorite people i’ve ever known,” says Junior, Emily Douglas.
