Wilson Geiler, a high school student with a unique interests, makes him stand out among others.
Wilson has always been deeply interested in the world of music.
“I’ve always been a music kid. My parents are both vocalists and my dad was a percussionist in high school and college, so music runs through my veins (figuratively of course),” Geiler said.
For Wilson, school is not just about the core subjects; it’s also about pursuing his passion for music.
“I definitely enjoy Band and Instrumental music classes. Getting to play my instrument and get a grade for it is always my favorite!” Geiler said.
But Wilson’s love for learning doesn’t stop there. When it comes to core classes, Wilson has an interest for World History.
“Getting to understand why the world is the way it is today because of decisions made by ancient people is fascinating,” Geiler said.
Wilson is also involved in extracurricular activities, particularly in the school’s band.
“I’m involved with Band and have been,” Geiler said.
Outside of school, Wilson’s life continues to revolve around music.
“I do a lot of music stuff outside of school. I volunteer to play in pit orchestras for community theatre, I attend Jazz sessions at NOMA, I just generally practice my instrument a lot,” Geiler said.
However, Wilson is not just about music, he also enjoys gaming.
“When I’m not doing music stuff, I’m probably playing Legend of Zelda on my Switch, or one of the Persona Games on my PS4,” Geiler said.
In his free time, Wilson likes to balance his hobbies with social activities.
“If I’m not doing homework, I love getting to go out and spend time with a group of friends. Going out to see a movie, lounging around at someone’s house, playing online games. I’m a pretty gung-ho extrovert, so people are my strong-suit,” Geiler said.
Throughout Wilson’s high school years, he has made the most memorable memories through the instrumental music department.
“I always remember laughing and hanging out with my friends from band. They’re my crowd, and they are good people.” Geiler said.
Wilson also looked up to some upperclassman who he was inspired by.
“I remember most fondly two seniors from the class of 24 who were my inspiration the past 3 years.” Geiler said.
Although Geiler is a very busy guy in and outside of school, he puts in so much work to what he does
“I’ve always been a self-motivated person because I know I can achieve at a high level.”
“Seeing people who are better than I am keeps me humble and motivates me to continue down the path to skill, even if the road ahead is 20 years long.”
