For most schools, a show choir is an activity people join to dress up, sing, and get trophies. However, for Burke Synergy show choir it is about lifelong friendships, being able to perform for other people’s enjoyment, and getting to do the things you love. During the week back to school after winter break, burke synergy worked hard to prepare for their premier of the 2024-25 show choir set ‘Things That Go Bump in the Night’ and finally was able to perform the set on Thursday. There were emotions of excitement, stress, and joy.
“Before premier i was both nervous and excited. You never know whats going to happen during a live performance which is what makes it so fun but also stressful” Madi Newman (12) said.
Post-premier many were feeling happy about how they did, and others were reminding themselves they have more opportunities but for this sophomore she felt confident.
“I would say that the outcome was good and didn’t turn out as bad as I feared it would. As a whole group I feel like we did pretty good for most of the performance and the closer was really good” Isabelle Olisah (10) said.
There are many hopes and dreams for the upcoming competition season and so many goals that are possible for this group to reach.
“I feel like this show choir season it would be cool to make finals at the majority of our competitions and maybe win best soloist fingers crossed” Keyonu Robbins (11) said.
Throughout competitions the group is focusing on staying goal oriented and positive no matter what gets thrown in their way.
“The energy felt great. I tried to focus on facials especially the changes in expression to fit each song. I definitely messed up a couple choreo moves but that’s okay” Grace Voorhees (12) said.
