“He has the knowledge. He is more than willing and able to help the students. Sometimes, I think you can have a great personality. Sometimes you don’t have the knowledge of what the content is. Tyler very much has the knowledge and is able to help.” Megan Towey said.
Peters is enthusiastic about this opportunity and relishes his time at Burke
“When I graduated, all the staff were very supportive of my decision to come back and volunteer. I appreciated that and it really motivated me to actually do something with my life,” Peters said.
Although volunteering gave Peters something to do, taking this job is much more than just something to do. His passion and deep desire to help people was enough reason to take this job.
“Helping kids is a very important thing because a lot of kids don’t have the help they need. I can fill some of that in by volunteering here. It’s what I’m going to do because I feel like I should help people in the world,” Peters said.
Peers have nothing but positive things to say about the job that Peters has done so far. “Tyler has done a great job! He is engaged with students, offers support, is available to help when needed, takes direction well, and does a good job of socializing with peers when the time is appropriate. He is a great asset to the team,” Towey said.
Peters is task to do different things depending on the day. On even days, I help the rock stars with reading and staying on task. On odd days, I do things like work in the resource room and help students with their homework. I also run passes for teachers and do whatever they need.
Looked up to by many, Peters has left his mark in this school as both a student and a volunteer. His efforts to contribute will be remembered by the students he has helped.
Peters has a positive outlook, even with his limitations he is someone students and friends look up to as a role model.” Francis Finn said.
