As students are returning to school from winter break, and winter sports teams are entering the half point mark of their season, they’re ready to take on the rest of the season and finish the season off right.
Senior, Brandon Titswhorth is currently serving his 4th and last season of basketball at Burke and is looking forward to working hard with the rest of the boy’s basketball team to make a few more wins.
“Now that we’re halfway through the season, I can say that this season is going way better than last year. We’ve also gotten way more wins than we did last year,” Titsworth said.
“For me personally though, I feel like I’m playing good, but not at my best. I think I could work more on trying to score the ball more.
Alongside Titsworth, varsity team member Micheal White is also looking forward to finishing his last season at Burke as well.
“I think this season is going great so far. We”re all doing a great job at working together as a team, better than we have in past year thanks to our new head coach,” White said.
Micheal is currently out due to an injury, but he is not letting that stop him. He is hoping to continue playing basketball in college and Tom get recognized for his hard work on the court.
“I’m currently out for an injury, but I should be back in hopefully by next game,” White said.
“For myself I have hopes for myself to get recognized and get some good scholarships so that I can continue to play in college. But for now, for this team, I hope we continue to improve, even if we don’t make it to state just to keep having fun as a team and stay together,” White said.
Junior player Jayland Parks, is quickly making his way up as a varsity player. Parks played in Burke’s freshman team his first year, but quickly moved himself up to reserve, then JV, and now a full time Varsity player.
“Since freshman year I feel like I’ve improved more in being a leader, and being a better team player,” Parks said.
“I also think that I’ve being really following in my other teammates foot steps, and them being role models is really helping me be a better player overall as well as seeing myself grow,” Parks said.
