Students are not the only ones who need the elevators; the janitors also need them. Lots of people need the assistance of the elevators throughout the day, including janitors, who have way too many supplies to carry up and down a flight of stairs.
Now that we have established that using the elevator is a problem, how do we fix it? The school has put signs on the elevators to let students know they are not permitted to use the elevator; this has not fixed the problem.
I propose the school needs to implement a card scanner to unlock the elevator, giving the students who need the elevator access to a card.
How would this work? Well, just like teachers need a card in order to get inside the building, students and staff who need the elevator will have to unlock the elevator with the card. This would keep people who don’t need the elevator from using it. Plus, students use the elevator for things like vaping—that is an issue that would be partially solved by not letting every student use the elevator.
The school needs to do what they can to eliminate elevator use from every student. Signs on the elevator saying that people are not allowed to use the elevator won’t do it.
Whether the school takes my idea and implements it or not, they need to take action and be innovative. I am aware that we have lots of problems in the school, all of which need to be solved. However, this is an important issue and should not be forgotten. Not only should this not be forgotten, but it should be prioritized.
