TABLE ROCK, Neb. — The outside of the RoundUp Bar and Grill is simple yet welcoming, with a touch of small-town character that immediately stands out. The building itself is a piece of local history, sitting in the heart of Table Rock. The restaurant, located at 420 Luzerne St., reflects the town’s story.
Table Rock was settled in 1853 and has withstood its share of challenges from tornadoes to floods and fires, yet it continues to stand strong with a population of only about 234 people. The Round Up Bar and Grill fits perfectly into that atmosphere. Its rustic design and well-kept exterior make it an inviting sight.
Parking was convenient and located right in front of the building. I appreciated not having to circle around or fight for a spot, a small-town perk.
As I stepped through the doors, I was immediately hit with the comforting scent of the grill. The staff greeted me right away with genuine smiles and pride. The interior had a warm, wooden aesthetic, with craftsmanship that gave off a cozy, classic bar-and-grill vibe. The polished wooden floors and walls showed that the owners take pride in their business. Soft lighting created a relaxed, inviting atmosphere perfect for a casual lunch or a weekend night out with friends.
There wasn’t a large crowd when I arrived, which made the experience even better. It felt peaceful and personal without the noise that usually comes with busier restaurants. The bartender came over almost immediately, introduced herself with a cheerful attitude and took my drink order. The service was fast, friendly and attentive from start to finish. I never felt rushed, yet I also never had to wait long for anything.
I decided to order the steak Philly with fries, one of the items highly recommended by a local sitting at the bar. Watching the food being cooked right in front of me was a nice touch that showed everything was made fresh. When my plate arrived, it looked fantastic.
The fries were golden and crispy, perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of salt. Each bite was crunchy and flavorful, easily earning them a 10 out of 10 in my book.
The Philly itself was also delicious. The meat was cooked to perfection, tender, juicy and full of flavor. The melted cheese blended beautifully with the steak, creating a rich, satisfying taste in every bite. My only disappointment was that the sandwich was served as a half portion instead of a full one, though it packed plenty of steak to make up for the smaller size. The bread was soft and fresh, slightly toasted to add a nice texture contrast. Every element complemented each other, making it one of the best Philly sandwiches I’ve had in a long time.
Overall, my visit to the RoundUp Bar and Grill was a wonderful experience. Between the friendly service, the cozy small-town atmosphere and the fantastic food, it’s easy to see why locals love this place. The RoundUp isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a piece of Table Rock’s story and a reflection of the town’s welcoming spirit.
If you ever find yourself passing through, make sure to stop in. Whether you’re there for a meal or just a drink, you’ll leave satisfied.
