Student council is a great place after school club to be apart of if you want to be more involved with your school. It’s the easiest way to find yourself in some type of role.
Anishka Senouvo is a girl who navigates to involvement at Burke high school and in her freshman year she joined student council with a goal in mind to have a leadership role.
“I joined student council because I gravitate to leadership roles, and over time I eventually got a leadership role,” Senouvo said. “I’m student council vice president now.”
Senouvo has plenty of love for her role in student council but their so much more that comes with student council. Student council isn’t how it was last year with all the seniors that have left but it doesn’t change the feeling that Stuco provides for people that join.
“I really love student council and for the main reason I love it is because Mrs. Mitchell,” Senouvo said. “She’s just good support for a group like student council and she has great ideas, overall, she’s a great and reliable person.”
Student council has planned some events in our school like homecoming, spirt weeks, and prep rallies. Mrs. Mitchell must get permission for the ideas the members produce, and there are always new ideas, with the mention of innovative ideas Senouvo had an idea of a talent show and was extremely passionate about making it happen.
“I think a talent show is a really fun opportunity for Burke high school. Performance can be a fun thing. I believe it’s a good thing to just have fun and maybe win a prize at the end of it,” Senouvo said.
Senouvo has other plans for student council that are reasonable for the club because stuco definitely needs to have some attention brought to it. There isn’t ever a gloomy day because we all come together to make plans, it builds a friendship, and everyone pitches in some type of way.

“My next big idea has to be something that will make money, we’re kinda broke,” Senouvo said. “Besides that, the next big thing is what we’re going to do for the prep rally. We haven’t got a date on that yet.”
The prep rally is a far thought if all were being honest and student council is planning something a little smaller for just the student council members. A Valentine’s Day Potluck, and it’s stirring up excitement with the members, and in their latest meeting they spent time planning for the little party. Everyone was pitching in making valentines notes, and valentine’s boxes for a candy pass out.
“It’s going to be like back when we were in elementary,” Senouvo said.
