As the fall and Halloween season arrive, many students and staff enjoy cozying up with their favorite books. With the wide variety here in Burke’s community, everyone has their own unique stories that make autumn

reading extra special.
Mahia Hasan, a senior, enjoys reading Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. This fantasy romance novel is one of six
other in its series that all keep you on the edge of your seat.
“A lot of people told me good things about it, and I’m looking forward to finishing the other books of this series too!” Hasan said.
With many more books to read, Hasan awaits the rest of the fall season. “I like reading these types of books during the Halloween season,” Hassan said.

Dahlia Chembwa, a Junior, likes to get cozy and read The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. A fantasy young adult novel, with a corresponding graphic novel version, will get you ready for the fall mood.
“It has just the right mix of spooky, magical, and heartwarming with that eerie fall atmosphere, but also a strong sense of wonder and coming of age,” Chembwa said.
“It’s perfect to read when the days get shorter, and the air feels like something mysterious is just around the corner,” Chembwa said
Berdina Niquelle, who is also a senior, likes to take it easy and read I Love My Little Storybook by Anita Jeram, a Fiction picture book where a little rabbit

explores the world of his storybooks!
“This one keeps you guessing until the very end. It’s perfect for fall because it has a spooky,
small-town vibe that totally fits in October.” Niquelle said
Sometimes, even with pictures, you can still be engrossed in the imaginary world and get yourself personally into the immersive sense of spooky season.
“I like reading it when it’s raining outside; it just makes it feel even more real,” Niquelle said.
