High school senior Jasmine Allen is three months away from graduating and is ready to encounter a whole new world and new experiences.
“Being a high schooler, there is a lot you’re not able to do, Allen said. “You’re limited by parental structures, and once you get to college, you’re kind of just thrown out into the real world. It’s really scary, but I’m excited to figure out who I am and what I want to do.”
Jasmine is excited to graduate, but like anyone, there is a part of her that will miss high school.
“I am going to miss my current group of friends, Allen said. “Some will still keep in contact with me most probably won’t last at all. honestly, that’s fine. It leaves room to learn and grow as a person and do more things for yourself.”
As everyone moves on, there is usually something we learn from our high school days. For Allen, it’s no different than most; those experiences speak to how valuable high school is for personal growth.
“I’m a big people pleaser and have always had this overwhelming fear of being alone, so I’ve always kept people around even if they were really crappy, Allen said. “Recently, I’ve been cutting out more of those people. I’ve grown and developed in doing what is best for me.”
