Senior Kingston Blair has spent his Burke high school years learning how to support others not through grand gestures, but by encouraging others and keeping friendships
He believes one of the most important lessons you can share with younger students is learning how to manage time while still living the highschool life.
“Don’t let any one thing take all of your time. Balance your time, enjoy what you do, and don’t let stress be a burden,” Blair said.
Along with balance, Kingston emphasizes the importance of being genuine and treating others the same. something he says has helped him build stronger relationships.
“I’ve learned that there’s no point in trying to impress people. I’ve learned to be the same person around everyone. Not everyone’s gonna love that but like it’s chill who cares bruh,” Blair said.
Some of Kingston’s favorite memories come from experiences offered by Burke high school and epically the journalism path way.
“Favorite memory was my trip to Philadelphia for journalism and getting closer with the other editors and writers and being able to experience a new place with all of them,” Blair said.
Looking ahead, Blair is excited to continue building those connections as he prepares for the next chapter of his life.
“Going to Lincoln with my friend Isaac Gibson as my roommate, both going into the school of journalism there at UNL,” Blair said.
Through his advice, friendships, and willingness to stay true to himself, Blair shows that acts of kindness often come from encouraging others to be confident, balanced, and authentic in who they are.
