Our entire lives revolve around politics- from who we vote for all the way to the medications we choose to take. Recently, President Trump has announced there is a link between mothers who take Tylenol® as a pain killer and children born with autism. However, some people have tried to stay away from deep levels of involvement on the topic.
“I don’t know like much about it but the basis is that he is claiming that Tylenol causes autism in babies but I think he is pushing it with just blaming Tylenol” Haylee Potter (11) said.
With such claims about a large company many are trying to stay true to what they believe and listen to clinical trial results.
“I think that when medical professionals are disagreeing with the president there’s a problem. It’s dangerous to make a claim about such a popular medicine without any actual proof” Callie Huffman (11) said.
With the research and claims that have been released, some believe there are deeper causes behind autism than just the medication taken.
“I personally think that what he is saying could be true in some instances but it is a very case by case thing. A lot of times autism can be caused by progressed age of a mother you know if a mother is 35-40 the kid is more likely to come out with a birth defect or something along the lines but I also do know that opioids can cause deformities or physical or mental issues with babies so I don’t know there’s a lot of circumstances that can play a role and you can’t just blame it on one thing” Orlando Dhaenens (11) said.
