A new LGBTQ+ movie is coming out soon and the trailer is pretty interesting.
LGBTQ+ has been in media for years, but you don’t see a lot of movies including LGBTQ+ characters and when they do sometimes, they aren’t portrayed like people would expect them to. The new movie “Pillion” is a romance/comedy coming out this year, its release date is November 28. Theres really no sayin if their characters relationship is portrayed well and is believable but after watching the trailer it looks real enough to me. It is also a movie you don’t want to watch in front of your parents, if your brave enough, I’d say go for it. Just go in with caution if you do watch it with a parent.
LGBTQ+ in media is something you see or notice, not something you see everyday. In movies its different cause a lot of times when they make movies where the main characters are LGBTQ+ usually the actors aren’t, some people mind it some people don’t. But everyone can agree that sometimes actors cannot portray these characters well at all. They also don’t seem comfortable with the role sometimes. I do think that if a movie is being made they should be getting actors they know that are comfortable with the role and can portray the role as it should be, or they could just have actual LGBTQ+ actors/actresses. That would make the most sense in just a general sense. As someone who is in the LGBTQ+ community I do think that there should be more representation of it in movies since you don’t really see it as much. As time goes on you do see more and more of it but is it actually good? Is it portrayed well? Not all the time. You hear people complain about the actors not having chemistry with each other on screen and everything looks forced between them and that’s not how it should be.
Pillion being a romantic comedy your gonna see the actors having fun chemistry on screen, even some spicy chemistry to. But its not gonna look forced because theres gonna be funny scenes people can laugh at, it’ll feel genuine. Especially the dynamic of the couple in the movie feels kind of real, even with really looking at some of the scenes in the trailer, the movie makes you want to feel, maybe for the character or just make you feel in general, like laughing, feeling sad, or just being happy for the characters. Some movies don’t bring that; all it’ll make you feel is uncomfortable because the couple doesn’t feel real or some scenes don’t feel real at all. That’s what throws the viewers off, they don’t want to feel those things when watching a movie that isn’t even supposed to give those emotions. Same with shows, shows can give those as well, what makes a good show is good characters and a good plot. If those are off people aren’t gonna like it or think its good, some people look at if the actors have good chemistry or not on screen, if your observant you look at the gestures or facial expressions they use when acting. But in all reality we should be respectful of these actors and their own sexuality, if their straight playing a gay character and they could do it well, than let them be, even if they can’t portray a gay character well that doesn’t give the right to be mean to them about it.
I do really think that there definitely should be more well portrayed LGBTQ+ characters in movies because you don’t see them that often, you see them in shows or other media. A movie can really show how a character is like and how they can change, so can shows but movies can give out big emotions within only a couple hours and can really give the characters emotions as well instead of them just being faces on a screen. Plus if theres more LGBGTQ+ characters in movies it can really give comfort to someone knowing that people have thought about that community and has really thought about the world and made a good character for whatever project their doing.
