Appreciation for writing should be more present in all media!
National writing day is an annual celebration of the power of writing creatively, inspiring people of all ages and abilities to try writing for fun and self expression.
Built on the premise that writing, although it might seem as though this topic has already been taken care of in the matter of being recognized, unfortunately that is not the case , not a lot of people know about this important day especially younger people.
“I think writing is such an important tool for articulating the thoughts you might not be able to say out loud. Your notebook, computer, or journal can become a vessel for your deepest vulnerabilities, thoughts, secrets, and even victories.” Simone Goodwin said.
Even among those who don’t enjoy writing, there own topics or formats is especially motivating, as is responding to inspiring prompts to writing about personal experiences-essentially writing can be for everyone when given the proper motivation and tools.
“Not everyone writes because they cant talk to others; some reserve their personal writing tools for specific topics they express better on paper.” Goodwin said.
The effects writing has on peoples mental wellbeing – many have wrote to support their mental wellbeing, with 2 in 5 writing to relax and 3 in 10 because it made them feel happy
What this occasion provides is an opportunity to celebrate the reason for young people to write . Speaking to students have let me know that teachers have a big role when it comes to students finding interest in writing or any kind of motivation
“Writing is extremely important to me because it shows how I grow as a person who’s better at talking, writing is a bit of a weakness for me.” Goodwin said.
