OPS alters code of conduct for 2023-24 school year

During an Omaha Public Schools board of education meeting on April 3, several changes were approved to change the code of conduct next school year. Among the most note able is the wording of the dress code.

Under the inappropriate clothing section of the code of conduct it states that prohibited clothes are “clothing which is construed to be distracting to the learning environment, per district and/or school guidelines.” The changes to the code would remove that wording from the handbook and replace it with “words or images that promote alcohol, drug use, weapons, insult or demean others, or disrupt the school environment are not acceptable at school.” The full list of changes can be found here.
