Morgan has spent the last 4 years at burke high school and is now currently in the last stretch of her senior year. Through her time at burke she has been an active member of the journalism department. Her junior year she gave it her all being commander in chief and going to the JEA NSPA in Philadelphia.
“I wasn’t nervous or stressed at first even though people voted for me to be commander in chief it can be pressuring but I was prepared for it, my job at that time was writing my stories and making sure everyone knew what they were doing. The title is misleading it’s not as scary as long as people knew what they were doing.” Morgan said.
Everyone could rely on her and knew that she would be there to help when needed. Early on in the year she joined some of her classmates in the trip to Philadelphia. Morgan competed in the editorial competition in Philadelphia.
“That was a stressful time, I felt like when I was in a room with a bunch of other people and I don’t know how they write and who they were I thought I wasn’t going to win but I did want to take something away from it and I feel like I wasn’t and that shouldn’t have been my mindset, I should’ve been focusing on mine instead of everyone else’s. If I did it again, I would have a different mindset and focus more on my story rather than everyone in the room,” Morgan Said.
